Danville High School Thespian Troupe #8343

The International Thespian Society is an international society that has been honoring student achievement in theatre since 1929. During the 2016 - 17 school year Danville High School chartered a troupe with 7 original members. Since that time Danville High School Troupe #8343 has inducted 14 students, participated in 2 statewide Thespian Conferences earning proficient, excellent and superior ratings and currently has an active current membership of 11 students.

Induction is normally held in the spring of each school year. Requirements for induction include earning a minimum of 10 points (100 hours) by working in at least two different areas of theatre and events in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center. This may include theatre outside of DHS at the discretion of the sponsoring faculty member.  Students maintain active membership following their induction through earning points in theatre in various areas and being active in specific Troupe #8343 activities.

Active members may be eligible to receive cords at graduation honoring their achievements in theatre by

  • Maintaining a 3.0 average in their senior year.

  • Worked on a minimum of at least one Danville High School play during their senior year and earning at least 3 points.

  • Maintain active membership in Troupe #8343. This may be accomplished through:

           Attending and participating in monthly meetings.  

           Helping plan and implement specific Thespian Troupe activities

           Taking a active role in maintaining the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center throughout their senior year.

           Actively participating in the Thespian Statewide Conference
